IDEAS consortium meets online ahead of the project launch

On 7 October 2026, the IDEAS consortium came together online for its official kick-off meeting, laying the foundations for the project’s launch on 1 November 2026. The meeting brought partners together to align on the scientific, training, management and communication activities that will guide the network over the next four years.

Funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks programme, IDEAS will train 15 doctoral candidates while advancing research into amorphous pharmaceutical materials. The project aims to address one of the major challenges in pharmaceutical development: the poor water solubility of many drug candidates, which can limit their effectiveness and prevent promising therapies from reaching patients.

During the kick-off meeting, the consortium reviewed the project’s scientific, management and communication work packages, including their key tasks, deliverables and milestones. Particular attention was given to the connections between activities across the different work packages (WP). WP leaders agreed on coordination mechanisms, including regular meetings, to facilitate information exchange, identify dependencies between activities and support the timely implementation of the project.

The meeting also introduced the project’s management structure and governance bodies, providing partners with a common understanding of responsibilities, reporting procedures and decision-making processes. Recruitment planning was another important topic, with partners reviewing the recruitment process for the doctoral candidates and the key deadlines for their appointment and integration into the network.

Communication, dissemination and exploitation activities were presented alongside the scientific and management programme. Partners received guidance on Horizon Europe requirements for communication, dissemination, open access, acknowledgement of EU funding and the management of project results.

The IDEAS consortium looks forward to seeing the network take shape and to working together towards new approaches for the design and delivery of pharmaceutical formulations.
